Catching up (a little bit)

Emery has really had a big December, so I may have to try & catch up over several posts. First, as you know, Emery turned 4 months old on December 17th which meant another trip to the doctor! I was excited to go and ask all of my crazy questions that I had been storing up, all the things that I hadn't already called their office about. :) Here we are playing with toys, and waiting on the doctor. Isn't she precious! She really did a good job and behaved excellently.
She currently weighs 10lbs 9 oz (2 %ile), and is 24 inches long (34%ile)- getting so big!!
The next weekend was Emery's first time to go to Sunday School. The ladies in there are excellent and I can tell they ust adore the babies, so I know she is in really good hands. And, we even got a good report from her teaches that she behaved- go Emery! It worked well for me since she could stay in there and nap until it was time for her to eat again at 10:30.
This is Mrs. Adams singing and entertaining her- God made puppies, did you know!
I'll try to post some pictures from all our Christmas festivities this week. Ours was great, and I hope yours was too!

4 months old

December 17, 2009

(I couldn't pick the best one, so they all made it this month!)

Well, Emery is 4 months old now and what a big month she has had! We celebrated Thanksgiving in Tyler this year with the Kirksey's and has a great time! Good food, good family, good games. This also meant Camryn was in town for a few days and Emery really enjoyed getting to play with her- actually she mostly enjoyed watching Camryn play, as we all did. She is also changing so much, here is what she is up to lately:

- She is still loving her gym and playing with the all the toys in it. She really started liking the music aspect of it & gets so excited when it makes noise.

- She is reaching for EVERYTHING! I'm so proud- she is so great with finding her toys when they are laying next to her and picking them up to play with them. She is also grabbing things out of your hands and of course they go straight for her mouth

- She is loving different textures. She has a blanket (the Swankie Blankie!) and she loves to feel the furry side and the silky side. She spends so long just touching it and of course chewing on it
- After Camryn's visit she picked up on a few things: how to SCREAM, and how to roll over. She hasn't quite gotten there yet, but she's so close! Maybe after Christmas she'll have it down.

- She is great at sitting in the Bumbo and I think she really likes the new perspective it gives her. She watches Tanner and Bruiser and they are so entertaining!

- She laughs! It's the best sound in the world, and she especially laughs when we play airplane.

- She is getting bigger & bigger everyday. She is wearing 3 month clothes now and we are getting a lot of use out of some great and precious shower gifts. I still can't believe she is wearing them! I looked at them for so long while I was still pregnant and tried to imagine my baby girl in them and here she is. It's a great feeling.

We go back to the Dr. Monday morning for her 4 month check up. Wish me luck- watching those shots is tough! Until then, enjoy some pics!
Helping me cook on Thanksgiving. The high chair has a tray that attaches to the front so she has all her toys in reach. Of course, most of the time they end up on the floor- oh my, it's already begun!

See, she LOVES to touch things- especially furry things!

What do you do when you don't want to do tummy time anymore? Push yourself forward out of the Boppy, duh!

See how fun the gym is- you can climb on it too!

Happy 4 months Big Girl- they have been the best 4 months of my life!

Hello Santa!

A couple of weeks ago we took Emery to see Santa for the very first time! She did so good, well I guess she didn't real seem to know what was going on, but still- we got a super cute picture out of it!
Isn't she precious! We stayed and finished up our Christmas shopping while we were there (by the way, 11:30 on a Tuesday is a great time to go to the mall!) and someone got a little tired from all the excitement. She's working on keeping up with her Mama at the mall, but it's a hard job. It's ok Big Girl- you'll get there one day. :)
If you are wondering, yes, we own a stroller, he just can't resist her. I can't say that I blame him!

This One's for Sarah...

My sister recently did an amazing before & after post on her blog so I wanted to show her my favorite before & after (and it's a good excuse to post pictures of Emery!)

3 months!

November 17, 2009

This week Emery turned 3 months old! It's so hard to believe she is growing up so fast! She is really developing a lot of personality & I just fall more in love with her every day. Here is what she is doing at 3 months old:

Wiggling- still her favorite thing to do!

Talking- she is really concentrating on shaping her mouth into words and imitating the way your face looks. All that comes out now is pretty much "Goooo", but she's trying- Mommy sees it! :) This week she also starting grunting when she gets excited, it's too cute!

Chewing on everything! She especially likes her hands- both of them, all of them in her mouth all the time now. It's so funny, Matt calls it her chipmunk impression.

Her neck and torso are also getting so much stronger so she is able to do a few new things like... take walks like a big girl

Help me in the kitchen like a big girl (I think this is GREAT!)

And ride in the Bjorn like a big girl!

I can't wait to see what next month will bring- I love you Big Girl!!

The Pumpkin Patch & Dedication

The weekend of Halloween we decided to have Emery's dedication at Glenwood- more on that later... first though, we spent Halloween at Moore Farm's Pumpkin Patch with Gigi, Okay, Sarah, & Camryn. Sarah & Camryn came to town for the dedication on Sunday (Tyson was sick and couldn't make it, but we took lots of pictures for him!). They were pretty much out of pumpkins, but the girls don't even know it's Halloween so we figured it was still a good chance for a few great photo ops.

Babies in Bjorns, how cute!
Emery was really excited to be there, can't you tell! :)
The Girls (old & new)!

So, we did alright getting some pictures of the girls on their first Halloween- don't they look like they really enjoyed it! I know this Mommy loved, they have so many fun activities. A corn maze, and a hayride- but maybe next year.
Sunday was Emery's dedication at our church and it was wonderful! Glenwood does this as a way of introducing all the new babies to the church & blessing them. They also gave Emery a bible that is just adorable! We feel so blessed to have such a wonderful church family that will love Emery just as much as we do. This is congregational response that is read during the dedication:

We rejoice to take Emery under our care.
We seek God's grace to be a community in which
the gospel is truly proclaimed to all.
We will support you and minister with you
as workers together in Christ Jesus and
heirs of his promise.

Since my Dad (Okay) is an elder he was able to do the blessing which was really special for all of us. We (actually Gigi) was able to take some pictures... thanks Gigi!

Trunk or Treat

Our church had their annual Trunk or Treat this past Wednesday and of course Emery participated this year (her first Halloween, oh my)! Matt & I were just talking the other day how we are already coming up in so many firsts for her- Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, not to mention all her personal milestones. She is growing so fast! Anyway, we had a pretty hard time coming up with her costume since all the ones we looked at seemed so big, so we ended up being a ballerina. Who can resist a baby girl in a tutu and a bow?! We had a blast and Emery did great. She loved looking around at everyone and meeting a lot of new friends. She almost made it all the way through, but fell asleep toward the end- she was a champ!
Gigi & Emery (thanks for the tutu, Gigi!!)
It was a little windy :), Emery kept squinting her eyes and letting the wind blow through her hair, precious!

This is how she spent most of the night

Venturing Out

Well, Emery and I finally ventured out to run errands on our own! It was a little scary, but we all survived without any crying or screaming (Emery did great, too :)). We went to Babies R Us to get some new pacifiers since I accidentally burned the ones she likes- apparently your not supposed to boil those things, who knew?! Emery slept & I shopped and at the end of the day we were all happy, yay!

Stay tuned for pictures from her first Halloween!

Spooky!

I heard this on the news one night last week, apparently it was some sort of equinox that allowed a broom to stand up on it's own. I didn't believe it until I tried it. The broom stood through dinner & the rest of the night, it was almost like we had an extra person in the house- creepy! :)

2 Monthls Old!

Has it seriously been a month since I wrote a blog?? I guess that shows how busy we have been lately!

Well, Miss Emery is now two months old and getting so big! She is now 22 inches long and 9 lbs 1 oz! Her favorite thing to do is WIGGLE- it seems to cure all problems. :) Her head is getting so much stronger, and she is sleeping through the night in her crib (that was a hard transition for me, but yay!). She is also starting to talk A LOT and no one gets her going like Daddy. They have talks every night and her voice is so beautiful.
More updates to come, as soon as I get them loaded onto my computer.

1 month!

September 17, 2009
I know I am a little late with this post but better late than never, right?! So, we have successfully made it through our first month with Emery and I can't believe how fast it's gone by! I feel like we are all getting more & more used to each other every day and developing our routine feels really good! She is such a sweet girl, I just feel so lucky to be her Mommy and that I get the blessing of living with her and watching her grow up.

Here are some of my favorite things about my little girl after our first month together:

*She's MINE! I know, that is kind of obvious but it's still amazing to me.

*All her dark hair. I spend so much time brushing it after her bath while it's so fuzzy and cute! I think it's so adorable and I hope it stays.

*How good she is at tummy time! She is really getting strong and will do so well when she is on her tummy. I'm convinced she is trying to roll over. :)

*How much she loves to lay on her back and wiggle! She loves to lay in her gym and will just kick her legs, wiggle her arms, and talk for a long time- it's really fun.

I just realized there are way to many things to list, she is such a happy girl and I love spending every minute of my day with her. Here are a few more pictures!

Robbie & Drew came for a visit

Bathtime! We are all getting better at this :)

After bathtime, her hands & feet always feel so cold, so we cuddle for a while to warm them up. Her eyes get SO big and her hair is nice and fuzzy- my favorite time of the day!

Relaxing with OK

Wiggling in her gym!

Meeting her Great Grandaddy (my Grandfather) for the 1st time!

Pictures

Well we are about to celebrate Emery's two week birthday tomorrow- I can't believe it! We are all doing great! She is sleeping all day and staying up to play at night. :) Oh I kid, she really is doing great. We have the occasional fusiness at night, but I think we are all starting to settle into a routine. She has slept in her crib in her own room all by herself the past 2 nights and I miss her like crazy! She just seems so far away. At least we have the baby monitor (turned up all the way right by my head) so that gives me a little more peace of mind. Matt went back to work last Monday, so Emery & I have been staying busy going on walks and going over to Gigi & Ok's. Here are a few pictures, enjoy!

Introducing...

EMERY ELIZABETH!!!

She arrived at 1:00 am on August 17th and was perfectly healthy and beautiful! We are just in love and are really enjoying having her here. I am finally getting around to putting some pictures up of her. Hopefully soon I'll have time to share our birth story. But, for now, here are some pictures of our little girl!
